Morocco Earthquake Appeal

The devastating earthquake that struck Morocco's High Atlas region on the 8th of
September 2023, with a formidable magnitude of 6.8, has left an indelible mark on the
nation and the world. This catastrophic event unfolded at precisely 11:11 PM, catching
many residents in the region by surprise, and its impact has been nothing short of
heartbreaking. As the days pass, the toll of this disaster continues to rise, with over
2,600 lives already lost – a grim number that is expected to increase as time goes on.

One of the most harrowing aspects of this earthquake is the fact that many of those who
perished were in remote villages nestled deep within the High Atlas Mountains, the very
epicenter of this seismic catastrophe. These villages, known for their stunning natural
beauty and isolation, became the epicenter of a tragedy that has left them utterly
devastated. Entire communities have been wiped out, with some villages reduced to
nothing more than rubble, and families torn apart by the merciless force of nature.

We are focusing our aid to benefit in the long term. In response, we are mobilizing a team of volunteers and aid workers to attend the scene and provide much needed physical and financial assistance. Morocco is close to us as we were currently in the process of setting up our office there before the disaster struck. Now this emergency has caused us to speed up our efforts and dispatch a team to the effected areas. 

We will be providing food, water, toiletries, clothing and bedding and providing the much needed emotional support to the bereaved families. We will be providing important updates over the months to come. Your donations will help us in this desperate rebuilding of a community torn apart.
